Goran Ivanovic and Fareed Haque

Goran Ivanovic is a native of Croatia, a Balkan country torn by the civil strife that engulfed the former Yugoslavia. The musical son of a Serbian father and a Bosnian Croat mother, he has crossed many boundaries in his life and in his music. While he was studying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with masters such as Elliot Fisk and Joaquin Clerch, his parents were expelled from Croatia and were granted political asylum in the United States. Since his residence in this country, Goran’s broad grounding in Classical music has been enriched by influences of Jazz, Latin and the Blues.

Fareed Haque is the multifaceted Chicago guitar legend who has effortlessly spanned all musical genres and styles throughout his musical career. The son of a Pakistani father and a Chilean mother, he is internationally known for Pop, Jazz, Classical, World Music and everything in between.  Fareed has performed with the likes of violinist Kennedy, jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, pop icon Sting, and many other Classical, Jazz and Pop artists.

Chicago Reader      …Haque possesses one of the great guitar techniques in modern music…Ivanovic…can already match his colleague in terms of virtuosic technique.  …Both guitarists use lavish ornamentation and elastic tempos to transform the folk melodies of Macedonian Blues into fantasias that cross musical as well as geographic boundaries.

Chicago Tribune     …when their two guitars play, cultural barriers melt away.
